Abstract
Michelangelo Merisi vol. At the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, Caravaggio brought a new order to painting, based on a faithful capture of the surrounding reality, which he transferred to the Old Testament, New Testament and hagiographic scenes.
His new use of light and shadow, his sovereign drawing skills and his perfect painterly illusion of the material world and spiritual events placed him at the forefront of Baroque art.
