Urbino mannerist painter Federico Barocci was one of the most inspiring painters of the second half of the 16th century. He left over 1,600 drawings and dozens of paintings in which he experimented with complex movements and difficult abbreviations of the human figure.
The altar paintings of the painter from Urbino adorn the main Roman temples, such as Santa Maria in Vallicella known as Chiesa Nuova or the Basilica of St. Peter.
Barocci's inventive radiant colors, brilliant drawings, dynamic compositions, thematic wit and warm emotion foreshadowed Baroque painting, as if his name were the nomen omen of the Baroque. The lecture is realized for the cultural public within the third role of the university in the original author's cycle Artist and Man.
