After his initial interest in antiquity and history, Edgar Degas met Monet and Renoir. Although he did not feel impressionist, he participated in seven exhibitions of the movement.
His oil paintings, pastels and drawings depict horse races, concerts, dance performances, their backstage and naked women after a bath. He experimented with photography and with sculptures complemented by textile components.
In addition to his paintings, he became a very important sculptor, fundamentally transforming contemporary sculpture. The lecture is realized for the cultural public within the third role of the university in the original author's cycle Artist and Man.
