The paper deals with the issue of the initial stage of teaching organ improvisation. It describes the problems that a teacher can meet with pupils, puts them into historical and psychological context and suggests their solution.
A part of the paper is a description of a methodical system of teaching organ improvisation, which can be used to some extent for other musical instruments. The paper is based on many years of experience of the author, who works as a lecturer of organ improvisation on many music courses.
