Abstract

This review is focused on the bilingual Czech-English monograph describes preserved manuscript translocation plans of the Jewish settlements in Czechia in the period 1727-1728. The book includes a foreword, an introduction, chapters on the historical and social background of the creation of these plans, and catalogues of the plans.

In addition to the way of Christian and Jewish cohabitation in Central Europe, the regulations of Emperor Charles VI, which sought to limit the impact and influence of Jewish settlements, are described in particular. This was, in particular, a Familiants Laws limiting the number of Jewish families in Czech and Moravia.

Then, it was a translocation rescript that identified places especially reserved for Jewish dwellings and the ways of separating them from the surrounding population in cities and towns.
