Abstract

The German successor of Bruegel, Caravaggio, Rubens and Fetti combined stimuli from all over Europe into a bewitching painting synthesis. He created the "first Baroque painting" in Venice, the second version of which found its place in the collection of the Bishop of Olomouc, Karl of Lichtenstein-Castelcorno in Olomouc, today in Kroměříž.

From today's point of view of the "modern" conception of the painting, based on vivid brushwork and inventive colors, Liss has not lost any of its appeal to this day.
