Abstract

Curious history of a non-opioid analgesic metamizole is presented. Metamizole is a direct derivate of the first chemical analgesic drugs synthetized in the 19th century.

During 100 years of its existence, metamizole was banned in many countries, while in others, including the Czech Republic gains popularity and is frequently used as a compound of multimodal treatment of postoperative pain.
