After the first volume of this series, which presented an overview of fairy tales and picture books, this second volume reviews books by important contemporary authors that reflect a change in the themes and in the manner of storytelling of Czech children's literature. The books it reviews aim to attract readers who fall into a wider range of ages.
This volume is divided into four chapters: Other Places and Other Ways: On Realist Prose; In the Garden and on the Road: Fantasy and Nature; Adventure and Fantasy; and Poetry and the New Poets (va Procházková, Daniela Fischerová, Petra Soukupová, Ivan Wernisch, Radek Malý, Petr Borkovec).
