Abstract
The aim of the research is to show the contribution of holistic philology to the understanding of linguistic research. Leviticus is a kind of an examplatory text showing that diachronic research cannot be carried out without a cultural background since significant parts of the text are not translated from Latin.
The study deals with the motivations for omitting such an important part of the translation.
