Abstract

An essay on the intellectual encountar of leftist thinking and religion, especially Christianity. The essay progresses historically over key milestones: from Feuerbach and Marx, through political theology to feminism and postcolonial theory.

Finally, it outlines the current debate on post-secularism and suggests what it may mean for the left's future approach to religion.
