Abstract
Trade unions had been equipped with right to check employers' facilities and, if necessary, they could order to cease work. Nevertheless, the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic abolished the right to stop work.
However, trade unions have never accepted their constitutional constrains and continue to persuade public that they have to be given the right back. This article points out that number of trade unions do not use services of professionals in occupational safety and, therefore, most investigations are to be run by unqualified and unskilled labour union officials.
The article describes the current plight situation, does not also neglect to submit its proposals de lege ferenda to amend the legislation.
