Abstract

Bubosa poinari gen. et sp. nov. from mid-Cretaceous Myanmar amber represents a bark cohort cockroach (Blattaria). Numerous standard and intercalary veins and a wide and long costal area place it within the family Blattidae.

The narrow pronotum and slender extremities, including the extremely long cerci, shifted interantennal ridge and fluent forewing CuA are autapomorphic features. The discovery further demonstrates the representation of bark taxa among amber material, a category virtually absent in coeval sedimentary deposits.
