Abstract

We will present a canonical quantization of a general spherically symmetric black-hole spacetime with a massless scalar-field source and a brief examination of the associated constraint algebra. This type of spacetimes will be quantized using the Dirac's method of quantization of constrained systems which produces the appropriate set of Wheeler-DeWitt equations.

We will be able to solve some of the equations generally for the above-mentioned spacetimes. The complete solution to the whole set of these equations remains yet to be found, however.

Additional demand of staticity of the spacetimes will help us find a solution to the Wheeler-DeWitt equations for, in this way restricted, class of spacetimes. The nature of the solution and remaining problems will be then briefly discussed.
