Abstract
The polemical axis of the text aims at the attacks against the critical research of the contemporary Czechoslovak history, as embodied by the assaults of the journalists Klíma and Šafr against the views of historian Michal Pullmann. It confronts their sweeping clichés through their three principal opposites: the antithesis of democracy and totalitarian government, freedom and repression and political legitimacy and its complete emptiness.
