On the State of the Knowledge of Medieval Ceramic Floor Tiles in the Czech Lands

Abstract

The work summarises the knowledge of the development of ceramic floor tiles on the territory of Czech lands in the Middle Ages. Attention is devoted particularly to a group of Romanesque relier floor tiles unique in Europe, further the Gothic floor tiles.

The questions of chronology are discussed, primarily based on the archaeological sources.
