The article is a study of the term "great works of socialism" with focus on their relation to their soviet inspiration, their wide range of forms and realisations in the countries of the Eastern block. The concept is presented on a particular case of a Czechoslovakian construction from the fifties - the dam Lipno.
The goal of this work is to pinpoint what it meant to realise such projects. It also briefly presents possible strategies for the study of similar "great works of socialism".
