Reading Latin Texts at Czech Grammar Schools from the End of 19th Century to 1948

Abstract

This paper describes the Latin didactic praxis in the grammar schools from the end of the 19th century to 1948. It focuses on the content and development of the obligatory reading in the Latin classes, because only through reading original Latin texts the teacher can give the students thorough literary instruction.
