Using specific procedures and examples, the article presents recommendations on how to stimulate interest in the digitized national heritage as a source for research among academics and the professional community. As a result of the digitization activities of the National Library of the Czech Republic, hundreds of terabytes of data suitable for analysis are stored in its digital archive ready to be used by methods collectively referred as digital humanities.
The text provides recommendations for improving the Kramerius user interface, in which digital archive data is made available to researches. An example of a study by Jack Elliot in the field of 'vocabulary decay' represents set of good practice examples from abroad.
Finally, it presents own realization of original model study using available data - map visualisation of places selected Czech romantic authors.
