Abstract

Working with testimonies filmed by the USC Shoah Foundation, this chapter presents a rich panoply of Jewish memory in Romania, Yugoslavia, Greece and Bulgaria. By emphasizing the victims' experience, it elaborates on the survivors' inability to ever fully master or overcome the trauma of loss and suffering.
