The Biochemistry and Artistic studies: a novel integrated approach to the identification of organic binders in polychrome artifacts

Abstrakt

This paper deal with a novel integrated approach to the identification of organic binders used in the art works. The main bio-analytical methods that were used for this study are immunohistochemical methods, ELISA, and the method of peptide mass mapping with mass spectrometry MALDI-TOF (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionisation - Time of Flight).

The analyzed samples were taken mostly from the polychrome artifacts and easel paintings.
