The article deals with the topic of commissioning judges or vice-presidents of courts with the performance of function of the president of the court in courts where the office of president of the court has been vacated, which is important also because current practice has only vague normative support in law , which only further encourages the need of analysis and to work with this phenomenon. The article is divided into three parts, the first deals with the empirical analysis of contemporary practice in the Czech courts, the second deals with the legal analysis of commissioning along with answering basic research questions related to commissioning practice, which concludes the final part of evaluating the possible consequences of deficient commissions and proposals for the future regulatory developments.
