The article analyses the demographic situation in the Czech Republic in 2019 and sets it in the context of demographic trends in the past decade. The study describes the development of individual components of demographic development and the effects they have on the population size, age, and marital structure of the population.
The population of the Czech Republic grew as a result of the positive balance of international migration. Natural change was slightly negative in 2018.
Both the total fertility rate and the total divorce rate stagnated. Marriage rates increased along with the life expectancy at birth for men and women.
The total abortion rate slightly decreased.
