Snow line - an element of the mountain landscape and indicator of climate changes

Abstract

Snow line represents an important boundary, which influences many natural processes, such as energy balance of the Earth ground, hydrological and geomorphological processes, vegetation and fauna. The objective of this paper is to provide the snow line definition and its regional and seasonal variability including ongoing and future changes and to describe which methods are available for its determination.
