Abstract
There are two traditional demographic bases in the Czech Republic, which are geographically close to each other, but each operate at a different university. It is, of course, the Department of Demography and Geodemography at the Faculty of Science, Charles University and the Department of Demography at the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics, University of Economics.
The article briefly introduces important personalities of both these institutions.
