Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy has been associated with the risk of sudden cardiac death since it was described. It is also considered one of the most common causes of sudden death of young athletes.
Therefore, competitive and in many cases recreational sports were not recommended for these patients. In the last few years, a number of findings have been published that shed new light on this issue.
That is why today we choose a less restrictive approach, especially in the case of recreational sports. The aim of this article is to summarize current knowledge on this issue.
