Abstract
The article discusses the shadow contrast imagery in Zhai Yongming's poems. In Zhai Yongming's poems, contrasts appear repeatedly, forming a unique type of imagery.
Regarding Zhai Yongming's shadow contrast imagery, it can be divided into three categories, as follows: human shadow contrast; object shadow contrast and dot shadow contrast. Through close reading of the text, shadow contrast imagery in Zhai Yongming's poetry reveals the poet's inner world, emotions, and particular state of mind.
