Abstract

The workshop was aimed to acquaint participants with innovative methods Learning Stories formative assessment and its use in the context of Czech preschool education. The method originates in New Zealand and is used in various adaptations in a number of European countries.

It aims to support the child as a competent learner. It shows teachers how to support the development of each child and how to consistently apply the child-centered model of education in the form of stories about the child's learning.

The method can be used as one of the sources for working with portfolios and a suitable tool complementing the summative tools for evaluating the development and learning of a child in kindergarten. The participants got acquainted with the theoretical basis of the method and could practically try working with this method.
