Darier disease (DD) is a rare genodermatosis with autosomal dominant inheritance that manifests as yellow-brown hyperkeratotic papules coalescing into plaques, distributed over areas rich in sebaceous glands. Bacterial and fungal skin infections can aggravate disease and worsen prognosis.
A disseminated secondary viral infection, mainly due to Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), named Kaposi-Juliusberg varicelliform eruption (KVE), is a life- threatening complication of DD. Patients with HSV infection are normally treated with acyclovir but resistance to this agent can reach 16% in immunocompromised patients .
