Abstract

It might sound like a bit odd question since the obvious answer is simply 'why not?' If the scholar wants to write a book of poems or a script for a play, why couldn't she? Well, it is not the kind of writing I have on my mind. The question is, why should scholars write about their work for the general public? After all, the scientific work is a rather complicated business and tremendously boring one for those outside of the field of study.

Or is it not?
