Abstract
The chapter offers an expert scientific commentary on the principle of nemo tenetur se ipsum accusare (no one is obliged to blame himself). The chapter deals with legislative and judicial development and concept of this principle, not only in the Czech legal environment, but also in the English, American law, case law of the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union.
