Publication at Faculty of Law |
2020

Abstract

The contribution (national report) briefly describes the fight against poverty and the right to development form the perspective of the Czech Republic. The first part provides a survey of Czech international treaty obligations and the constitutional and legal framework in the field of social rights.

The second part deals with the Czech contributions to the fight against poverty and the right to develop- ment in the international context. Development cooperation makes an integral part of the Czech foreign policy.

The Czech Republic has general commitments stemming from its membership in the UN and the EU. It should strive to increase the resources allocated to development assistance to 0.7% of its GNI but the achievement of this goal does not seem realistic in the nearest future.
