Abstract

This study aims to present the synchronic analysis of the book of Exodus based on the instrumental tool of Yuri Lotman's concept of semiosphere. The introduction displays Lotman's most influential theoretical findings which are utilized in the rest of the article.

The paper deals with the narration of events of Exodus story, which serves as a space for the reconstruction of an image of the semiosphere of Egyptian and Israeli texts. The next part of this paper monitors the dynamism of the establishment of newly emancipated Israeli text with all of the dynamic process which occurs inside the Egyptian semiosphere.

The main contribution of this study consists of the capacity of this theoretical approach to grasp and thematize a centrifugal movement of Israel's text and its subsequent development into the form of an inherent semiosphere.
