Abstract
The article introduces the characteristics of Semitic oral and written tradition recorded in the form of epic and poetic texts. It focuses on the western Semitic poetic texts concerning victory, namely the selected parts of Ugaritic Baal cycle, on which the article is based on, and the Song of Deborah in the Hebrew Bible as a later form of this type of political poetry to which the study finally aims.
