Abstract
Musician, writer and activist Chico Buarque, recently awarded a prestigious literary prize, has dedicated his musical career mainly to modernizing traditional genres and protesting against the dictatorship of the military junta. His protestsonges are becoming relevant again in Brazil after the arrival of authoritarian President Jair Bolsonaro.
