Map of building elements of historic structures in the archaeological area under the IIIrd courtyard of Prague Castle

Publication

Abstract

The map documents the authentic elements of historic buildings preserved in the archaeological site under the IIIrd courtyard of Prague Castle. It is available as a set of 2D and 3D map applications via Portal for ArcGIS web interface.

The content and structure of the map is based on the Geodatabase of building elements created for the registration and analysis of information on technology, material composition and condition of masonry building fragments. The spatial data were created on the basis of a new geodetic survey.

The specialised content was obtained by carrying out a formal description of building elements and archaeological research in conjunction with the results of other surveys, such as analyses of building materials, structural monitoring and records of previous conservation and restoration interventions. Research reports, photo documentation and geodetic measurements are attached to the map as additional data.

The map is a tool for storing, presenting and sharing various research data for a wide range of users. In the field of applied research, the map finds application especially in the domain of monument care for archaeological sites at Prague Castle.
