In the 1880s and 1890s, nature became one of the most important topics of Czech poetry. Study defines two basic possibilities its representation that emerged at this time.
The most important distinction between them is the position of a lyrical subject: some poets are aware of dynamic movement through the landscape, others take a static attitude towards the nature world. The first are called poetic pilgrims, the second one are poetic hermits.
The study also mentions other differences between the two types and attempts to associate less known lyrical poets of the late 19th century with any of the types.
