Tomáš Trnka and his efforts to create a comprehensive theory of popular education

Abstract

The study is dedicated to the personality of Professor Tomáš Trnka, leading theorist of public education in Czechoslovakia. The attention is directed to his personal life, professional career at Masaryk Public Education Institute and his most important publications on the topic of public education and popular education.

His key ideas on public education are briefly analyzed in the text.
