The right to housing as a trap for a social worker

Publication at Faculty of Education |
2020

Abstract

I signed up for the section of the conference, which reflects the social work taking place within the constraints based on extraordinary measures of the Government of the Czech Republic, at the time of the developing first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is the period from 12 March from 2 pm, when the state of emergency was declared, until the end of the emergency measures on 17 May 2020.

I will briefly describe the facility where the support of clients took place, the history of the origin and the tradition of supporting people in social need at this place. I will approach the methods of work and try to describe the diverse target group of clients who demand and receive services from us on a regular basis.

Subsequently, I will build on the description of the work of the emergency measures announced by the government of the Czech Republic. The second part of my paper will be a reflection on the phrase "right to housing" in the context of personal experience, in the context of social work with people in material need.
