Abstract
The review professionally analyzes the first biography of Bohuslav Raýman (1852-1910), the creator of modern organic chemistry and a leading figure in Czech scientific life. The monograph by the author Sona Štrbáňová is evaluated in the broader context of the history of science and its methodology.
