Agonization of GLP-1 in cardiology

Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen |
2020

Abstract

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists imitate incretin, which stimulates insulin secretion in dependence to glucose and inhibits glucagon secretion. Except of glucose metabolism that incretin influences the cardiovascular system protectively in direct and indirect ways.

A summary of GLP-1 agonists trials and meta-analysis of those studies in comparison with SGLT-2 inhibitors studies are presented. The indication of GLP-1 agonists in diabetes treatment according to the last statement (update 2019) is mentioned.
