Abstract
This chapter focuses on the history of the Charles University Faculty of Science in Prague on the centenary of its establishment in 1920. It presents the standing of the natural sciences in earlier history and their more recent development, leading to the establishment of an independent faculty by its separation from the Faculty of Arts, the "golden age" during the interwar period and the further changes in the postwar years under Communist domination.
