This paper deals with how important visual perception is as a significant factor determining the development of communication competences of every person. The presented research part focuses on pupils with severe hearing impairment whose visual perception represents an important compensatory means that can replace the non-functioning hearing.
The research followed the level of visual perception as well as the level of communication competences and its conclusions are showing that we can't rely solely on the visual intake of information when we educate these pupils but ideally, we should make use of at least bi-sensory perception.
