Infection by coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is already spreading through human population in pandemic extent for one year. The current approaches to control the spread of SARS-CoV-2 infection are based on antiepidemic measures only, are displaying the high economical burden.
It is anticitipated that better results will be achieved by the combination of antiepidemic measures and active immunisation. The deep knowledge of SARS-CoV-2 immunopathogenesis is essential to costruct the most effective vaccines.
The transmission of SARS-CoV-2 infection is predominantly through respiratory tract and via personal contact. The impact of infection on the health is very individual in the range from mild disease or even asymptomatic infection on one pole and very severe COVID-19 disease ultimating sometimes to the death at the second one.
These differencies are reflecting the individual immune reactivity which can decide about the efficacy of protective inflammation against SARS-CoV-2 infection which can switch into immunopathology in some predisposed infected patients characterized by the loss of homeostatic regulation of immunity.
