Abstract

Bullous pemphigoid is a subepidermal blistering autoimmune disorder. The gold standard in making its diagnoses is the use of direct immunofluorescence.

First-line therapy includes high-potency topical corticosteroids or systemic glucocorticoids. Old and nes approaches in obtaining and transporting skin biopsies, immunofluorescence techniques as well as in the management of the disease were reviewed.
