The disintegration of Austria-Hungary and the formation of Czechoslovakia: the question of continuity and discontinuity

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2018

Abstract

The lecture assessed the origin of Czechoslovakia in the context of changes in Europe and Central Europe after the First World War. She analyzed the continuous and discontinuous elements after the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic in comparison with the situation before 1918.

She concluded that there were more continuous elements, and the real state did not correspond to the self-presentation of interwar Czechoslovakia as a revolutionary state that was completely free of old Austria.
