Abstract
Missile defense is still a relevant topic. When Ronald Reagan announced SDI, he reintroduced this topic into the public sphere after years of silence.
This book represents an historical analysis, which focuses on the historical-political background of SDI. Therefore, technological aspects are only briefly mentioned.
This work considers President Ronald Reagan to be a key person behind SDI. We can even assume that SDI was his personal project.
However, we have to keep in mind that other persons and groups influenced or placed this topic onto the president's agenda.
