This presentation is a part of a symposium "Changing Times, Changing Attitudes? Authoritarianism and Young People's Citizenship Activity". There are significant differences in national policies in the area of citizenship education and overall educational system and curriculums across the observed European countries.

The aim of both formal and non-formal citizenship education is to help students to develop necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to act democratically, be socially responsible, and to think critically. This presentation deals with this differences in citizenship education according to educational system, e.g. length of citizenship education, means of integrating citizenship in the curriculum, attention given to citizenship education.

Is it possible to explain differences in results across the observed countries by dissimilar approach to citizenship education in each country?
