Abstract
Less than a month ago, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa defended his presidency. The Portuguese representative of the center-right won in the first round, leaving behind not only the Socialist candidate Ana Gomes, but above all the right-wing populist André Ventura from Chega! whose name can be translated as Enough !.
The rise in popularity of the failed candidate suggests that multicultural Portugal will hear debates on immigration, racism and decolonization more often than before.
