The topic of the paper is precarious work as a specific form of disadvantage in the labor market. The paper is based on a quantitative analysis of available data sources (Labor Force Survey and Living Conditions from the Czech Statistical Office) and also on the author's own research (Public Opinion Research Centre, Institute of Sociology).
The paper answers both methodological questions concerning operationalization and the possibility of measuring precarious work. And it also answers questions about the factual nature of this phenomenon, how it has evolved over time, what its socio-demographic characteristics are, and what are the differences between precarious and non-precarious work in an otherwise comparable position in the labor market.
