Abstract

To investigate the effects of substrate quality (evaluated via lignin:N ratios) on soil carbon stabilization under realistic field conditions, we employed physical fractionations, lignin extractions, and compared C stocks in bulk soils (clay-rich Eutric Regosols) and fractions from soils receiving either high- or low-quality substrate inputs in a common garden experiment.
